What We Offer
TOPS Program
Is your daughter looking for the next challenge? The Women’s Development Program was created with the belief that all athletes, regardless of their potential, must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely. The program allows the gymnast to advance at her own pace, competing in more than one level in a year, if she so chooses.
Moving To Team: Athletes are selected from Girls Intermediate or Pre-team at Cal-Star. To set up a time for your athlete's evaluation within our team program, please send requests to Amber@calstar.info
Developmental Program
Compulsory: Levels 2,3,4 and 5. Both of these levels are progressive in nature, building upon the skills required at the previous level. Competitive opportunities are provided up to and including the USA Gymnastics State Championships.
Optional: Levels 6-10. Levels 6, 7, 8, and 9 have difficulty restrictions, while Level 10 has no restrictions in the skill choice. Composition is evaluated at Levels 8, 9, and 10. Refer to the Women’s Development Program (WDP) Code of Points for a complete explanation of Level 6-10 rules.
Levels 6 and 7 have competitive opportunities up to and including State and possibly Regional Championships, depending on the needs of each Region.
Additional competitive opportunities are provided for Levels 8-10, with the Level 10 competitive season culminating at the WDP National Championships, Level 9 at the Eastern or Western Championships and Level 8 at the Regional Championships.

The Talent Opportunity Program (TOPS) is under the direction of the International Elite Committee. This program provides early screening and identification of talented athletes, along with educational programming for coaches.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the TOPS National Program is to build physical abilities and technically sound fundamentals for 8-10 year old female athletes. While strength and flexibility continue to develop, the athletes will learn compulsory routines which include the root skills required for elite level development. Form, execution, and shapes are the primary focus of this program.
GOALS: The TOPS Program is the beginning of the path for an elite athlete. Whether an athlete chooses the elite path or the Development Program path, the TOPS program will assist in developing a well-prepared athlete as she moves forward.
EXPECTATIONS: Eligible athletes and coaches can expect to participate in the below events during a TOPS season:
-
